Lat year at Lexington, I began organizing a Route 66 tour to the Laguna Beach Convention.  Without finding others with the time to spend on the road, Betty and I headed off to enjoy Route 66.

We followed and recommend the "EZ66 Guide for Travelers" by Jerry McClanahan.

We joined Route 66 at Oklahoma City and stopped at the Museum in Clinton
The "Oklahoma Route 66" museum was an excellent museum
Our next stop was the "National Route 66" Museum in Elk City, OK
The museum had large walk through displays

At Amarrillo TX, we drov south to visit the Palo Duro Canyon park
The Cadillac Ranch outside Amarrillo was a "must stop"
Tucumcari NM had large, well done murals on many buildings
This Route 66 mural was painted on the side of a supermarket

The sidewalk vendors in Santa Fe NM (not on Route 66 but an interest stop)
Betty Villers in front of the Loretto Hotel on the square in Santa Fe
Going to dinner in Albuquerque, NM, we stopped by a "Drive Night"
We stopped by the Petrified Wood Co near the Petrified Forest Park

A petrified wood table
We ran into several Thunderbirds driving around the country
The Wigwam Motel in Holbrook AZ has a vacancy
Who can resist "Standing on the corner in Winslow AZ"

A full service gas station in Williams AZ
The Road Kill Cafe in Seligman AZ "You Kill It, We Grill It"
The continental divide in AZ, it's down hill from here
Some places are so tacky that they are interesting

The Hackberry General Store about 50 miles off of the Interstate (think Cars movie)
The water tower in Kingman, AZ
Mr D's in Kingman AZ
The Route 66 Motel in Barstow CA, lots of old cars parked around

The "California Route 66" Museum in Victorville CA
Another excellent museum with interesting exibits
Home at last, here is what was carried that assisted four other cars
