The Convention schedule consists of a variety of events
with time for individual exploration. Everything
begins Wednesday evening, with an informal gathering.
Thursday morning we will head out on a distance,
direction rally along charming country roads, passing several historic sites.
The convention welcoming reception will be held at the hotel Thursday
evening.
Friday will begin with a driving tour down the
Colonial parkway to Jamestown, a tour of the glass making exhibit and a walk
through the remains of the original settlement. In the afternoon, we will take an interpretive walking
tour through the College of William & Mary to the historic area and hear
stories and legends that bring the Colonial times to life. Dinner will be by individual reservation at one of the
Historical Taverns (see accompanying article).
Saturday begins with the Concourse and People's
Choice car show behind the hotel. Technical
presentations and demonstrations will be held close by so that everyone can
participate in both events. For
those with other interests, Betty Villers will be hosting a traditional Southern
"Ladies Lunch". The
evening banquet, subsidized by Mercedes-Benz, should be a grand affair of
awards, prizes, entertainment and dancing.
Sunday will be the traditional breakfast business
meeting followed by a driving tour down the Colonial Parkway to Yorktown, around
the revolutionary battleground, then back to the Williamsburg area for our
farewell picnic.
If you are planning to attend, please make your reservations early: for lodging reservations, (Hospitality House, 800-522-2063) and for Tavern Dining reservation (See accompanying article for Tavern choices).
For those flying to the Convention, there are two choices; Norfolk offers a scenic view but the risk of traffic congestion, Richmond is an easy drive down the interstate. I will post updated information on the club web site, www.190slgroup.com. If you have questions or need assistance, call or email me at 757-481-6398, betty@whro.net.
