All rooms or suites include breakfast and we have reserved them all. So if they tell you they are full, make sure you have requested to reserve a room from our block of rooms. Rates are $75 (room) - $120 (suite)/night
There is a bicycle tour coming through on Saturday night. There will be no rooms available that night anywhere in town. Please make your reservations before May 26th, our reservations are not held after that date.
There are numerous activities for do it yourselfers. Check the website for a link to activities. I have divided them into two groups: those that need at least 30, preferably 60, days advance notice and those we might be able to arrange during the Convention or on much shorter notice. Extra charges may apply for all of these activities.
Short notice activities (we can sign up upon arrival in Leadville):
1) Morning or afternoon Train Tour (a few hours long twice a day, walk up or get tickets a day in advance or so);
2) Bicycling (there is new loop trail through town and the mining district, rent a bike in town, no real advance);
3) National Mining Museum and Hall of Fame Tour (admission is included in your convention registration, however, a tour is available if we can agree on a time).
1) Rafting (half day or all day); Rafting is a major recreational activity on (not in) the Arkansas River. Buena Vista is the putting-in spot for many rafting companies. Rafting is easy to sign up for on your own (see the Convention website); all you need to do is sign up and get to the right place in Buena Vista (about 35 miles south of Leadville). However, if enough people are interested, we will put together a convention raft trip and the rafting company will pick us up and bring us back to Leadville;
2) Walking Tour of Historic District (available as a do it yourself with a written guide). Again, if we can get a group together we can get a local guide to lead a tour);
3) Van to shopping at a ski resort, Breckenridge (about 40 miles away) or Vail (about 37 miles away). We will only take a van to one, and only if we get enough people to sign up, so if you want to go to either one, vote on the activities list on the Registration Form.
4) 3 night (or more) Tour of the Backroads of Colorado (after the Convention). See enclosed information sheet.
