Backroads of Colorado Tour For Type 121 II

The idea for this tour originated with the realization that your hosts for this year’s convention will not be able to caravan to the event.

So we thought why not see if anyone is interested in caravanning around Colorado for 3 or 4 nights after the event. Top-down motoring in 190SLs, on interesting two lane roads, stopping at interesting, out-of-the-way places would be the intent. And you would still have time to get home the weekend after the convention.

One of the assumptions we have made is that everyone has been here before, touring Rocky Mountain National Park, skiing or attending conferences at resorts. This tour would be for driving and photo ops. Up to 175 miles a day and motel type accommodations. It would be our intent that this tour would be relatively inexpensive and not glitzy. We would take less-traveled roads and we would hope that there would be times when the only cars you’ll see would be 190SLs. We would see National Monuments, lakes, shelf roads, mountains and rivers, at least.

We have not planned this tour yet. We only have a rough idea of what an itinerary could be. We will only put this tour together if enough people are interested. We have had our 190SL on most of the roads of Colorado in the nearly 30 years we’ve had it. We would pick some interesting roads and try to end up at a place most convenient for your trip home.

Let us know. There is a place to indicate your interest on the Convention Registration Form. See you in Leadville.
