Convention - September 16-20 Friday, Sep 16. Arrival, check-in and welcome reception at Doc’s Roadhouse in the Village. Saturday, Sep 17. Concours at the resort, lunch and activities on your own. Then an evening meal across from the Village at Moffat Station Brew Pub. Sunday, Sept. 18. A drive will take us to the Village of Grand Lake, the western gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, the headwaters of the Colorado River, and on the shores of Grand Lake, Colorado's largest and the USA's natural lake. Established in 1881, it was an outfitter for mining settlements. Brunch is at the Grand Lake Lodge. Later, in the town of Grand Lake, , a choice of the musical “Million Dollar Quartet” by the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater or a narrated boat tour of the lake can be enjoyed. Monday, Sep 19. A drive over Berthoud Pass takes us to the mining town of Idaho Springs and a mine tour, followed by lunch at Tommy Knocker Brewery. Following lunch we drive to Silver Plume to board a steam locomotive for a one hour fifteen minute trip to Georgetown and back, crossing the Devil's Gate High Bridge trestle, passing 100' over Clear Creek. We will return to the hotel for our Awards Banquet. For those joining us for After the Ball, our first night is at our convention hotel, The Vintage. When reserving there, add the night of Sept. 20th. Tuesday, Sept. 20. Another day to enjoy the area. Consider a trail ride through beautiful aspen groves in Snow Mountain Ranch, or a drive over Trail Ridge Road into Rocky Mountain National Park where we will drive 20 miles to the Visitor's Center and restaurant at the top for lunch. Also, there is hiking, biking, ziplining, fly-fishing, rafting, or four-wheeling up to the continental divide. Wednesday, Sep. 21. After breakfast we will head north on U.S. 40 driving 92 miles to Wolcott for lunch at the Wolcott Yacht Club and then 46 miles to Glenwood Springs. Two nights we will be at the historic Hotel Colorado, Grande Dame of the Rockies built in 1893 and the temporary home of Presidents Taft and Roosevelt, the Unsinkable Molly Brown, and Doc Holliday. We head south and visit the historic town of Marble, milling marble since 1905. We then return 5 miles to the town of Redstone and lunch at the Redstone Inn. Returning home we will be able to visit Woody Creek Vodka Distillers for tasting and a tour, or enjoy the Hot Springs baths. Dinner will be in Glenwood Springs. Friday, Sep. 23. Arrangements have been made for a final night in Breckenridge, a quaint resort town with great shopping, dining and scenery.
