The Convention

Sacramento and the Western Sierra Nevada region are the birthplace of the California Gold Rush which led to the largest westward expansion in the history of our country. The California Gold Rush forever changed this area, and the nation as well. The city of Sacramento sprang up almost overnight, with the population of the city growing from 1000 to 40,000 people between 1848 and 1850, all in the interest of supporting the 49ers (prospectors, not football players!!). The confluence of the beautiful Sacramento and American Rivers in downtown served the city well for trade and transportation, but also created significant flooding problems that had to be eventually addressed by raising the height of the city's buildings, with the construction of dams and levees in the surrounding areas. As the capital city of California, government service is the main focus of the city today.

Our meeting will open with an evening reception at the hotel on Monday to allow all of our 190 SL friends to get acquainted. Tuesday morning will commence with our Concours d'Elegance along Main street in the EL Dorado Hills Town Center, providing our members the opportunity to share their beautiful vehicles with the community. Driving tours will consume our Wednesday and Thursday agenda, and the members breakfast meeting will occur prior to departure on Friday.

For those who want to take advantage of two of the gems of the west, we will be hosting a "before the ball" tour of the Lake Tahoe Area and "after the ball" tour of the Yosemite Valley. Beautiful drives, sights and sounds abound and we look forward to sharing these locations with you
